In the past, Screen Gems made a lot of money creating a movie out of a popular video game "Resident Evil". Resident Evil then became a movie franchise and not just a single film. It is no surprise then that Sony would like to follow suit and create a movie from another popular video game called "Devil May Cry." The story centers on a main character called "Dante" and the tragic death of his mother. He then took the life of exterminating demon in hopes to avenge her death. The game has that sort of Constantine-feel only more action-oriented. If Sony chooses to pursue Devil May Cry Movie, with its heavy battle scenes, great combat styles and rich story line, the movie is sure to be a hit.
However, there is also some video games-turned-Hollywood that are just really horrible. For example, Mortal Combat, I don't want to say it, but it was an eye-sore and didn't really fly on the box office. But I guess I prefer those video game movies than other mindless action films that seem to be rampant nowadays. Also, Resident Evil was a success and it's from the same creator "Capcom", so it's a possibility that Devil May Cry the Movie is also going to be a success.
Plot Summary
The game franchise, originally intended as a spinoff of "Resident Evil" (the adaptations of which have also been released by Screen Gems), launched in 2001 and has seen three sequels since with a fourth currently in the works. The storyline deals with Dante, a man attempting to avenge the death of his mother by eliminating demons.
