I’m a bit frustrated with this show. I understand that it’s supposed to be sexy and romantic and whatever but it’s not. They’re rude and mean and abuse her and if they weren’t handsome people wouldn’t like this. If Yui was willing participant that’s a whole other story but she’s not. The fact that a lot of the comments are people criticizing her for not putting up more of a fight maybe you should be saying why are they such assholes. She says no, she tries to run, and that should be enough. Ask yourselves if these guys were ugly would you really enjoy this show?
I think you shouldn’t watch it then? It’s a sadistic type of show and it’s meant for people with a masochistic side to them and that I like how rejet doesn’t try to cater to every little girls lovey dovey needs.. And if you played the games and were more into the fandom you wouldn’t feel that way.
I hope the dev hears this please true to make a bit of a love interest and the deva have show that they really do care about here ayato has been nice sometimes and they don’t just leave here there after she is lost blood the comfort her in a bed and some are mean by they have too and they have hinted that they care but I agree that it is meant to be dark but it’s also Ment to be nice sometimes and a love intrest always makes a good anime and don’t force your others to thing like you if the deva see this I want them to know there doing great but I think there should be more of a love intrest with ayato or seubaru Anyways also remember how they did not do anything after she gained her body back they where not feeding on her and they even worried for her yes for the blood but mabey some actually like her.
Sorry I meant (dev)not deva
I haven’t had much experience in watching Diabolik Lovers, but from what I have seen, Yui is actually portrayed as quite a submissive character. The fact that she does try to say no (and run), does not seem to overbear the fact that she actually has the ability to leave the Sakamaki Mansion, and because she has such “high quality blood”, has all the brothers wrapped around her finger. However, this doesn’t seem to occur to her at any time. And yes, while most anime vampires are handsome/pretty creatures, this anime is really no different from other vampire animes I have seen, except the fact that Yui lives with them. For example, in Vampire Knight, Zero (who is a half vampire) treats Yuki like crap and while she tries to stand up for herself, he still remains aggressive. Basically what I’m trying to say is, it’s not like she’s trapped and she has no choice to escape, and while she tries to…does she ever really try to fight back? Does she try to find their weaknesses since crucifixes and holy water don’t work? Does she ever learn to fight with the silver knife Subaru gave to her? Does she ever think about how nocturnal they are, and use that to her advantage? If so, does she learn from mistakes? I mean, she’s not stupid, but she seems to turn to jelly in their hands. What I think other commenters are trying to say is that if she really wanted to leave, she could have done so in the first episode. However, this is just my opinion and I wanted to share it with you because I think this anime is actually an extremely interesting reverse harem. Which, by the way, most reverse harems if you didn’t know, have very similar attitudes towards the female heroin in this respect. Even in Ouran Highschool Host Club, Haruhi Fujioka is not exactly treated like a princess by all members of the harem. Anyway, that’s it.
I’m saying her saying no is enough. She tried to run in the first episode and they stop her immediately. My overall concern of the themes in the show is people reactions like “well what did she expect when she when into a vampires room” which is the same as saying “well she wore a short skirt she deserved to be raped.”
The only real similarity to Vampire Knight and this show is the vampire part. The other all treatment of the characters is different. Zero may be rude to Yuki but he doesn’t force her to do anything to the extreme of the guys in Diabolik Lovers.
Also to compare Ouran high school host club to Diabolik Lovers is a huge leap! In Ouran they don’t push her down and force her to do things (which could metaphorically be referenced as rape) . In Ouran high school host club they don’t anything anywhere near the degree of what happens in the first few episodes of the show.
I’m not saying you can can’t like the show. What I’m asking is people to realize Yui. Is not a willing participant and this theme of “well why didn’t she do this?” Shouldn’t be our question . It should be “what’s wrong with them that they feel the need to do that.?”
When we blame the victims we’re just letting the aggressors get away with it.
After watching more of the show, I agree with you more on the matter now. After seeing the very harsh treatment of the vampire brothers towards Yui, I agree about my misplaced comparisons in Vampire Knight and OHSHC. However, I still believe as I stated before, that Yui has many advantages in her situation, especially after being given a weapon that can harm the brothers by Subaru. I think any girl who was placed in this scenario would be willing to try various ways of escape. Also, while they threatened to kill her, do you think they’re really going to get rid of such “high quality blood?” And knowing this, as I think Yui’s probably realized this as well, she does have some control over the brothers. I never meant you were saying nobody could like the show, but I do think that Yui was a very underdeveloped character with so much potential to make this into a far more interesting anime. Even then, I suppose what I’m trying to get at is that Yui has been given many opportunities and not taken them to her advantage, including ones where I think some of the “kinder” brothers even ALLOWED her to have a chance to run. However, I do agree with you that their rash and brutal childhood is no excuse for their brute force treatment of Yui. (Although I also would like to remind anyone reading this that the gaming simulators this anime was based off of also was meant for kind of a more “yandere” theme and was meant to put the player (playing as Yui) through various terrifying scenarios. Basically as yandere simulator of sorts.) So after knowing that yanderes are as the title of the anime states “Diabolical Lovers”, than this is what the Sakamaki brother (and what I eventually believe the Mukami brothers) are, in this respect of course. Comparing it to rape is still a bit of a stretch, because you’re also making them seem more human. I’ve done a bit of studying in vampire terminology and “rape” and “blood-drinking” for vampires has so many different meanings. I feel that most commentators are also frustrated with the anime, but for different reasons, because I believe we all see how much Yui is trapped, but also how much she can do (but doesn’t do) to help herself.
you’re definitely right . Yui has multiple times she could leave.. also. in the ova. she legit rubs her legs together because of ruki biting her. and she gasps from it, so like i said. she’s masochistic and likes it to a point. but that’s the side of her she wants to hide. she was grown up in religious background.
danas listen will you like to harm someone who gave her the weapon . listen she tried to harm laito but was unsuccesful that part you should have noticed dear
If you’ve ever played the games or read translations on them yui does try to run. She’s usually unsuccessful though. In laitos route in the game there’s one point *SPOILERS* Where yui gets away and tries to call her church and they answer but they won’t come help her because she’s been offered up as a sacrifice to the vampires and they hang up on her.
I agree with anon fully. This reverse harem wasn’t made to be a love story. And even then, they’re vampires. They need t o feed. They’re sadistic. They come to care about her. You definitely would see that if you played the games. And I think you sitting here bashing it, and not even knowing enough about it, is dumb.
To be honest I think Yui is a fucking cunt who is an insult to ALL women! Running like a chicken or saying no is not enough to stand up to these vampires. She got to learn to FIGHT!
but then it wouldn´t be diabolic lovers anymore, wouldn´t it? (and i am a women and yes i love it :D)
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY
What you guys r saying is right. But if yui was strong and left on her own then the whole point of the anime would be a lost cause. Just saying
see , if she had run from the mansion how story would proceed. leave that but i want to ask if you had seen season 1 carefully then you would realise that they can hack the phones e.g once yui tried to run from the school and laito but laito caught her and from pco she called her father he hacked that . so now tell me how could she escape . 😉
okay tell me when we can see its season 3 online ?
i am dying ………………………………….. 🙁
