Lisa what's your take on the Tim thing? I just think bringing him in as a love interest to cause more drama for Waige was unnecessary. I know that the writers moved at snails pace with Waige in s2 which was annoying but they were developing their feelings for each other without even if they weren't expressing it. Tim rocks up and he's acting like he owns Paige already! Although I still don't think Walter is ready yet to be with Paige, especially after he showed how emotionally immature he still is in the last episode.

Every TV show prolongs uniting their main couple for as long as possible...which often means the introduction of multiple (usually insufferable) love interests. These characters are at best tolerable... but one can never get invested in them even when they are interesting, because they're only there for one purpose: separating the main couple. They never have any meaningful interactions with anybody else; they also never get any solid development.

I know, zero chemistry! I think part of it is that Paige was just so fed up with Walter and his refusal to accept his own feelings for her and for relationships in general at the back end of s2 that you could have dangled any guy in front of her and she'd have gone for him. However, the writers only ever really show us things from Walter's perspective and not Paige's, so it's hard for us to fully understand those decisions.

I like the actor, and I don't mind the character, but it was too quick for Paige to fall for him if she really has feelings for Walter. I like that they are spending time developing Walter's emotional side, but they don't need to have the side drama of Tim with Paige to do it.

Is this good for Scorpion in terms of increasing possibilities of a season 4? If Elementary was giving two more episodes (to wrap up the series) doesn't this not bode well for Scorpion? I thought it was pretty much guaranteed a season 4 due to syndication.

Yep. The ratings might be “low”, but the rating fro ALL shows are low.
I guess peoples viewing habits really have changed…
Even shows that have MASSIVE viewer numbers are dropping in numbers…. each new season/year.
So while the numbers might be lower for this show, they are so also for (all) other shows, and in comparison SCORPION is doing, as “assassin” said ok/quite well. It is actually doing so much better than so many otehr shows on the same network!

as for why the extra ep was ordered – probably for scheduling reasons + the syndication thing…
