Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru 2

Genre anime: Slice of Life. Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru takes place in the year 2205, a time when Alternate Historicists are attacking the past in an attempt to change history. The Saniwa sage has a mission to protect that history and so has gathered the strongest type of Tsukumogami (inanimate objects inhabited by spirits) in the Inner Citadel: Touken Danshi (Sword Warriors).

Characters

  • Yamatonokami Yasusada
  • Kashuu Kiyomitsu
  • Heshikiri Hasebe
  • Imanotsurugi
  • Maeda Toushirou

Unless you're already in the Touken Ranbu fandom, I don't suggest this anime. However for those who are in, first episode was promising and exciting. The 2nd anime by Ufotable will probably be focusing more on action and combat, so non-fandom peeps; wait out till that one instead.

This anime may seem very dissapointing to you all anime lovers but let me get this straight. This anime is based on a game called Touken Ranbu, which is pretty popular game in Japan and their fandom is really big and all - but the main point of this anime being created is because it shows about the light and heartwarming daily lives of these "Sword" characters living in their citadel while serving for their "master/saniwa". We don't think this anime brings a lot of heavy and serious elements because this anime mainly talks about the "daily lives of living happily in Citadel", so if you're looking for those serious types, we don't suggest you watching this because overall you won't understand and will be very unhappy about it. But for those of you who had been waiting for this anime to come out, we can say that this anime start out really cute and funny and the characters are really good personality wise. Have fun watching!

Most probably aren’t gonna like this unless you already know and like the game. I for one have been waiting for this for a long time and am loving every minute of it.

I’m not in its fantom but I’m still watching it and love it it is such a funny anime and it somehow seems like it will be sad in the other anime and from what u said it will have lots of action so I’m really looking forward to it.

you’re getting the definition of fandom wrong. fandom is the fan community itself. even if you’re just a consumer and not a maker/creator you’re still part of the fandom. it just means you understand the very lore of that title (in this case touken ranbu) and keeps up to date

I don’t understand the disappointments for this show. Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru isn’t meant to be that serious as it’s mainly a comedy. Also, some people don’t realize that this anime “Centers around their cheerful lives.” CHEERFUL. All I look forward to is my swords, I don’t even care about the plot, it’s just funny and silly in their own way. The game is fun, too

This anime was meant for those who actually played the DMM game. Imo. If Newcomers are planning on watching this anime they should try the game first. Instructions on TR wikia for English readers/speakers.
Its not a serious anime, hence “comedy” genre. Its like watching their happy, casual “sword” lives. If fills some parts where the game is missing, like some lore and it brings the characters to life at an exent if you play the game for a while.
Don’t say this anime is shitty since you’re only basing it off only the anime and not the super popular DMM game.
This is meant for the long time fans playing the game.
it’s almost for the same instance as Divine Gate, Puzzles and Dragons, and Monster Strike. All Started as games, turned into an anime to appease the fans.
